Bypass: reconstruction of the ‘Gryczana’ pumping station

Wolomin, Poland Przedsiebiorstwo Wodociagow i Kanalizacji Sp. z o.o. of the town of Wolomin announced a tender for a replacement pumping station as part of the modernisation of an inflow and distribution chamber. The project consisted of transferring sewage in the amount of 2000 m3/h to bypass the pumping station and redirect it directly to the sewage treatment plant of the town of Wolomin, using two DN600 pipeline lines, 2,700m long.

Assumptions

– capacity of temporary pumping station system approx. 4,000m3/h
– discharge via DN 500 steel pipe, 25m long
– pipeline connection to 2 x DN600 storm sewer, 2,700m long.
– electrical power supply
– power unit for storm pumps controlled automatically by a float in the suction chamber

RENTA PUMPS solution

As part of the successful tender, 1 container and 2 x Hidrostal F10HD pumps with separate vacuum system and 2 Hidrostal F10HD storm pumps with a total capacity of 4,000 m3/h with a back-up vacuum system feeding a Busch pump were used for temporary sewage pumping. Operation of the pumps was automatic via a PLC control container, allowing the equipment to operate unmanned throughout the project. The storm pumps were powered by a separate power source supplied by Renta Pumps. This was a 110kVA genset from the CAT manufacturer with automation to enable the generator to start when the sewage level in the suction chamber rose sharply. Wastewater was transported to the treatment plant via a 500mm diameter, 25mb long steel pipeline with direct connection to two independent 600mm channels with a length of 2,700mb
